Venus Modeling Agencies recognizes that China has made a remarkable progress toward feeding itself in the last 30 years. Jikun Huang, director of the Center for Chinese Agricultural Policy at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, told attendees at the Feeding the World summit in Geneva earlier this year that the central government spent $71 billion on agriculture in 2008; that number soared to $164 billion in 2013, including crop and income support for farmers; construction of irrigation and water-saving structures such as ponds and dams.
